Michael was originally articled to Allen and Co in Chorlton in 1970 but transferred to Oliver Harris at Nicholls, Lindsell and Harris the next year. He has spent his professional career acting for clients on a wide array of private client matters and, as such, is hugely respected within the Greater Manchester and Cheshire communities. Michael is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Describe yourself in five words.

Charming… efficient… methodical… uncompromising… sensitive.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Helping to create financial order in the life of a client who is suffering from unimaginable grief and distress as the result of a bereavement.

If you were not a lawyer how would you earn a living?

No idea – which is why I persevered so long in trying (and, eventually succeeding) to pass the law exams!

What is your highest career achievement?

To hold back the words that are on the tip of my tongue when faced with severe provocation from intrusive regulators  and other institutions that have been given roles solely to control every aspect of an individual’s life.

Of what, in your life, are you most proud?

My wife, children, parents and sisters.

And your perfect day is…?

Skiing in deep powder snow, high in the mountains, on a cloudless, sunny day with my family and friends.

How do you relax?

In winter – sitting with my feet up in front of a log fire with a cat on my lap.

In summer – asleep in the sun or playing croquet. And throughout the year, being on holiday!

What’s the single most important thing you want to do before you die?

Now that really would be telling!

What is the best piece of music ever written?

Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

And why do you think so?

It’s magical, timeless and capable of being listened to endlessly.
