VAT charges on authority searches postponed

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) VAT Committee has confirmed VAT charges on local authority searches – or CON29 searches – will be postponed.

The CIPFA have revealed that no date or further informattion has been given yet.

Following a decision taken by HMRC it was expected that CON29R and O reports provided by Local Authorities will include VAT from 1 February 2016. Local Authorities had been given until 21 January, 2016  to object to the addition of VAT on CON29.
